Today was the best day (I think) I could ever had in my life ( as a 5th grader) to write about! We went to the computer lab, which is right by us, to do fotoflexer! Fotoflexer is a website where you can download photos onto your computer and animate them (for example make it neon, big, different colors, etc.)! You just go to google, type in fotoflexer, and click on the first underlined words ( if you don't have google, I don't know what you should do). Afler we did a little animation, we went to Halstead!
On the way, we found two dead roadkill. One was brown, the other looked like a skunk. When I arrived at Halstead, I was surprised it was even a town. It looks kind of like one of those cowboy towns you see on cartoons. They had a small, open area and a basketball court. It didn't look like they used much money for the court, because where there was usually rope, it was chains. Then Mrs. Truby told us to come in after a while. We then went inside and the Halstead people told us what we were going to do.
First, we were going to do a pretest about nutrition and the digestive system. Then, we were going to see Valita the transparent woman (she seriously is transparent, she's made out of plastic). After that, we were going to split up into two groups and learn about nutrition and the digestive system. Finally, we were going to take a postest. On the pretest, there were 5 questions (a,b,c,or d) and I don't know how well I did. With Valita, we learned about the vital organs. You know what, I learned that the liver was actually a use. I though it was a slug moving around in your body so you would look bigger in that place. I also learned that the veins, nerves, and arterys in your body can rap around the world 2 and 1/2 times or 60,000 miles (how did that happen)! With the groups, I was with Mrs. Granell's class, and we went to the digestive system first. There is 32 ft. (I think) of digestive organs in your body! We also made poop (out of raisins and froot loops. It's not real poop)! It looked like it and smelled like it to! Then, we went to nutrition. we talked about the food pyramid. We also did this quiz thing. One was on grams of sugar in drinks, the other was on grams of fat in chips. The group didn't get many right. The person also did an expirement. First, she tried to push the arm of 4 people down, didn't work. Then, she gave them pixie sticks and they all gulped them down. Finally, she tried to push the arms of those people down, worked very well. We then watched a video that was this madeup restaurant that had hamburgers with over 3 lbs. of meat, fries that could power Cincinnati for 3 days, and 2 gallons of soda. Too much.
We then took the postest, I got every answer correct! We then went to the park. My stomach, arms, and legs had a good workout. I went up steep slides for this alien game. That's where my legs got workout. The slides didn't like me either. a few times I fell off, or scratch my knee and elbow up. When I went on these two merry-go-rounds, I faced alot of G-force, especially on the small one. I had to use my stomach and my arms to keep myself on. Once, my body was so tired because I was using my stomach and arms so much, I just let go and fell off (GT did that alot). Then, it was time to go to Freddy's! I got fries, chocolate shake, and a Dr. Code Red (Dr.Pepper and Mountain Dew Code Red mixed together). We could only bring $5.00 to Freddy's. Once I tried to get a concrete and a pop, but it was $5.08 (ooh, so close). I had to borrow a $1.00 bill from Mrs. Truby (don't worry Mrs. Truby, I'll pay you back). We then went back to school and played 7up. I was it twice with three other people (yay me)! This was the awesomest day ever!
